Cicada Woods – Aug 12, 2025 – 7:30 PM

Riverwood Conservancy – MacEwan Barn, 4150 Riverwood Park Lane, Mississauga

Free – Bring your own lawn chairs

Cicada Woods is Canada’s newest all-women tango-fusion string quartet. Performing amplified and pushing the sonic limits of their instruments – with percussive effects, siren wails, scratches, and driving rhythms – Cicada Woods promises an electrifying blend of tradition and innovation. This concert will feature their own fiery arrangement of Argentine tango master Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, reimagined by the group for violin, viola, cello, and double bass, alongside the premiere of a new classical work by Gemini Award-winning Canadian composer, Robert Carli, written for the ensemble and inspired by Toronto’s four seasons. The group features Suhashini Arulanandam (violin), Esme Allen-Creighton (viola), Sybil Shanahan (cello), and Shannon Wojewoda (double bass).

In the event of inclement weather, our rain venue will be Erin Mills United Church – 3010 The Collegeway, Mississauga. We will share this info by 2 pm the day of the concert.

With thanks to The City of Mississauga, Ontario Creates, The Mississauga Foundation, The Music Performance Trust Fund, TMA Local 149 and our partners at The Riverwood Conservancy and Visual Arts Mississauga for generously supporting this concert.
